by Robert Parker. This is the fourth installment of stories about Jesse Stone, the police chief of the small town of Paradise, Massachusetts. In my opinion, this is so far the best of the series.
In this installment, Stone must track down a serial killer at work in Paradise and, in parallel, bring three high school gang-rapists to the best justice he can manage within the legal system. Stone really displays his skills as a detective in this book.
This was also the first of the Jesse Stone novels that was made into a Tom Selleck made-for-TV movie. The movie follows the book fairly closely, but I like the ending of the book better.
