Planet of the Apes
by Pierre Boulle. I read this book for an 8th grade book report because I was fascinated with
the movie "Planet of the Apes." I remember I did a terrible report of the book, and it did not
hold my interest back then. We watched the 1968 movie the other night and I was really impressed with
the depth of the story (something that also went past me in 1973). So, I decide to re-read the book. The book was first-class science fiction. It interwove relativity and evolution into a story with twists and suspense, and one heck-of-a-good ending. Fans of the movie will recognize where much of the plot for the movie comes from, but the book's story has a very different focus and ending. I read this in just a few sittings. It's ~250 pages. I'd recommend it to anyone who just likes a good story. |
