Pirate Latitudes
by Michael Crichton. I don't read a lot of Michael Crichton's books, but this one caught my eye and
so I asked for it for Christmas. It was a pretty enjoyable and fast read (a good airplane book!). One of the reviews of the book
described the main character, Captain Charles Hunter, as a cross between Disney's Captain Jack Sparrow and
Daniel Craig's version of James Bond. The book is about a 17th mission to steal a rich Spanish galleon from a fortified island. The story includes a typical hand-selected band of cut-throats, political intrigue, and the mandatory pirate-meets-girl kind of stuff that makes for PG-13 movies. |
