How to Be a Monastic and Not Leave Your Day Job.
An Introduction to the Oblate Life
by Brother Benet Tvedten. I picked up this short book on my recent visit to Subiaco Abbey in Subiaco, Arkansas. It's
a nice description of the Benedictine way of life, as practiced by the religious men and women of Benedictine communities.
This way of life is based on the 6th Century Rule of St. Benedict. A growing number of laity have been
entering the Benedictine Oblate way of life in becoming associated with a particular abbey. This book is a good introduction
to Benedictinism and the way of life of Benedictine Oblates, with lots of testimonials from oblates across a wide range
of Christian traditions and confessions.
