The Men Who Stare at Goats
by Jon Ronson. I bought this book because (a) I enjoyed the movie and (b) it was $2.99.
To sum it up, it's a story about guys who tried to introduce New Age type thinking into the US Army after Vietnam. That New Age thinking collided with Cold War mind games to produce some spectacular media events in the last 20 years. It was clear where some of the material came out of the book for the recent movie of the same name, but the book did not bear much resemblance in spirit or content to the movie.
I don't know what to make of this book. I concur with one of the back-cover reviews that found the book funny in places and unsettling in others.
