August 2011 Understanding the Revised Mass Texts by Father Paul Turner. In 2001, the Vatican called for a more precise translation of the Roman Missal into English (the current English translation is from the original 1973 version). That new translation will become the standard on November 27 this year (1 Advent 2011). I picked up a copy of this booklet at the Monastery of the Holy Spirit in Conyers, Ga. This booklet was written for the laity to clearly understand the changes and the reasons for the changes, without diving too deeply into theology. I was really impressed with the book. After reading it I felt sure that the changes to the English Missal were bring it closer to the Latin Missal which is the official text, and from which Masses in all other languages are translated.
