The Killings at Badger's Drift
(book #1 of the Inspector Tom Barnaby series)
by Caroline Graham. We started watching Midsomer Murders on Netflix.
The show is a British detective series about the cases of Detective Chief Inspector Tom
Barnaby. The chief inspector often faces a list of suspects that all either take him for
a country-cop or underestimate his intelligence and detective skills. Anyway, we really
like the series that ran for 18 years on British TV.
The characters are based on several books by Caroline Graham with The Killings at Badger's Drift being the first. It was also made into the pilot episode of the TV Series. It is a really good story about some seemingly unconnected murders and an accidental death in the village of Badger's Drift in Midsommer County, England. Circumstances and evidence all revolves around an inner circle of family and employees of a wealthy estate. Barnaby doesn't believe in coincidences and doggedly gets to the bottom of the the sordid affairs leading to the crimes.
